This isn't a sexy thriller but it IS super important: Endometriosis: A Key to Healing and Fertility through Nutrition. This book outlines the effects of endo on the body and how food can act as a curative element for women with chronic pain. I've only just begun to incorporate the diet elements- spoiler, the Snickers snacks ain't helping- but I love the way the book outlines the disease thoroughly, recognizes the emotional challenges and returns power to women suffering. And eating well certainly can't hurt anyone, right? Right!?
I'd been itching to read Lauren Groff's Fates and Furies after it received such rave reviews. I read it over my break and it did not disappoint. It's the story of a decades-long marriage between a Southern man from a wealthy, eccentric family—the deliciously named Lancelot "Lotto" Satterwhite—and his wife, Mathilde Yoder. Where Lotto is expansive, charmingly selfish and narcissistic, Mathilde is contracted, generous, composed... or so it seems. The first half describes their romance from Lotto's perspective, and the second half from Mathilde's. It's gorgeously written, but in such a smooth way that you'll rip through the pages. There are so many genuine surprises, and such depth. Just like a real marriage.
